Pregnancy and Labour Massage Workshops for Dad
In this day and age, Dads are more involved in their children’s lives than ever before but sometimes they just don’t know what to do when it comes to pregnancy and the ‘big day‘, labour day.
Becoming a Dad can be a very daunting prospect and strains may begin to show in an otherwise solid partnership. But there is a real way of bridging that emotional journey that inevitably will be made in this amazing time of your lives. And it may very well assist in a more healthy pregnancy and birthing of this little miracle you have both created. It is Massage, the simplicity of touch!
And really, who better to provide this role for you when you are pregnant and readying yourself for childbirth? Pregnancy is an opportunity to continue to build intimacy, trust and commitment for each other and to the baby. Dad will soar in self esteem as he takes this productive and significant role in pregnancy and birth.
Midwifes, nurses, obstetricians and other maternity industry professionals have long advocated the use of therapeutic touch in pregnancy and labour. The use of massage has been shown to encourage natural birthing and increase those important feelings of connectedness between Mum, Dad and Bub.
Massage can work on many different levels. On the physical level it helps the body reset tight or strained muscles. Emotionally it may release any stress or frustrations and give you a sense of connectedness. Mentally it can clear our head and allow for a broader perspective. Spiritually it can help us to connect with whatever we think of as God.
Massage is great for treating those common pregnancy aliments: varicose veins, high blood pressure, muscle fatigue, cramping, braxton hicks, low energy levels and stretch marks. Labour is called labour for a reason, and massage is great tool for Dad to help Mum through those long hours. Labour Massage can assist in reducing length, risk and discomfort associated with labour.
